This antique shop and restaurant flourishes in the small town of Enterprise, Mississippi.  Although the town has a population of just over 500, owner Olinda “Linn” Carruth combines her love for food, art and antiques to bring this place to life.

Carruth originally started Creekside Mercantile in 2013 as an antique shop and a way to showcase her art, but as a native Louisianan, food plays a prominent role in her life.  Carruth said she brought in a pot of gumbo to serve to her customers one day, and they wanted more and more.  That is how Coffee Pot Café was born.

Coffee Pot Café at Creekside Mercantile, located at 120 West Bridge Street, originally got its name from the muddy Weir Creek that flows right through the back yard.  The mercantile sells nostalgic antiques and whimsical home decor while Carruth exhibits her art and the art of locals.  Coffee Pot Café serves breakfast and lunch from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.  The menu includes beignets, jambalaya, po’boys and other Louisiana staples.  Carruth proves her belief in the power of food and art to bring people together with Coffee Pot Café at Creekside Mercantile.

Sparse woods and a cast iron fence guard the entrance to the grassy, gravelly parking lot of the restaurant. The painted steps add even more personality to the antique shop. In ascending order, the steps read, “the attic, more good stuff, visit the attic.” This unique painting lures visitors upstairs where there are more antiques and artwork for sale.
